Today, DDC cooperates with leading publishing houses and graduate-level educational institutions and invites collaboration from publishers and authors.
The BookFund project - a virtual library portal that will provide the functionality and opportunity of working with library books and abstracts in the Russian market. The BookFund project is intended to bring an online catalogue of books available to its users, providing a user-friendly interface for searching the books and reading them, as well as integrating them with an applicative outline. The system will also allow book owners to edit their content as well as their rights, and for customers to maintain a personalized library for a monthly fee. User guests would be able to see only book summaries and preview, as the books content shall be protected. The system shall further allow institutional customers and students to integrate their learning curriculum with their personalized library and study plans. BookFund will support social network functionality as registered users will maintain a personal dashboard to communicate with the system, online friends and other events, and so help them in their academic process. One of the main obstacles in digital-age publishing, especially in evolving markets, is the protection of intellectual property against illegal access and usage. The Internet, besides being an easy and low-cost medium for mass distribution of content, is largely exposed to illegal copying and distribution of these rights. The BookFund project aimed to maintain content protection, thus relieving the content owner's worries from abuse of IP.
WHY COOPERATION WITH DDC IS MUTUALLY ADVANTAGEOUS
According to analytical J'son and Partners' research, the volume of Russian digital content market has made $1, 7 billion in 2006. It is also expected to grow three times up to $5 billion the nearest four years whilst the digital books market expands. It will be caused either due to high rates of broadband Internet dissemination (the approximate growth up to 15-17 % by 2010), and digital devices market expansion.
DDC perceives Internet book distribution as an effective textbooks advertising, promotion and sales increase mechanism, which also promotes a full-scale authors and publishers popularization.
Cooperation with DDC may become for you a strategic breakthrough and make your books even more valuable and "ubiquitous".
